Lebanon Volunteers In Medicine Clinic
Volunteers In Medicine Clinic in Lebanon, PA is a site for LaMSA Spanish interpreters to help providers communicate with Spanish speaking patients. Our interpreters are officially certified and they receive a payment of $25/hour when visiting the clinic. Diabetes Education Sessions
LaMSA has partnered with the Penn State Health Endocrinology Department's physicians and medical educators to create diabetes information sessions for Hispanic patients. Our educational sessions cover general diabetes mellitus information, treatment management, and the importance of maintaining a healthy diet. Lancaster LADA Physicians Group
LaMSA's students work with Dr. Daniel Weber at the Lancaster Literacy Council to help foreign physicians validate their medical careers in the US. Students review medical cases and teach STEP 1 concepts to the physicians. It is a great opportunity to help foreign doctors learn English and complete the process to practicing medicine in the US. Language Interpreter Certification Workshop
LaMSA's board members help run the PSU language interpreter certification workshop in which we train those who speak a language other than English. Certified interpreters can then work at Penn State Health as official translators while getting paid $25/hour. “Tú Sabes!” – Spanish Lunches
Bring your lunch and come speak Spanish with the Latino Medical Student Association at the Penn State College of Medicine! We meet twice a month and create a space for students to speak Spanish.
